Dear Rock And Royal friends,
Call us nostalgic but today we feel like taking a trip down memory lane to revisit some of our favorite moments in fashion history and the celebrities that made them iconic.
Nowadays, from runways to department stores and retailers all over the world, the entire fashion scene is paying sartorial tribute to the 90s and the wardrobe staples the decade gave birth to, because in fashion everything is more fun the second time around. The 90s are all the rage again, the chocker is the hottest accessory of the moment and leaving the house without a bandana tied around your neck seems so last season.
Nevertheless, our number one revived item is the slip dress, and our own take on this iconic design, the Courtney dress has become our uniform for the season. Namely, the dress pays sartorial tribute to the one and only Courtney Love – the Queen of grunge (and of our hearts) which has inspired countless designers and collections over the years.
With a never-goes-out-of-style design and color the Courtney slip dress is the perfect embodiment of 90’s iconic aesthetic, while the skin-baring back and flirtatiously high side slit combine for a daring look. With a myriad of styling options to choose from, wear this wardrobe staple with sneakers for a casual daytime look, while pair of strappy sandals will glam up your game during hot summer nights. We pulled inspiration from the emblematic 1995 Vanity Fair moment when she and friend Amanda de Cadenet showed up wearing nothing but satin slips, tiaras and a whole lot of bad girl attitude, and the rest is history!
If wearing a slip dress is an art, then Kate Moss is the master, as she has previously proved it back in 1993 at Elite’s Look of the Year party when she wore a completely see-through slip, showing us not just her bikinis but the fact that you can put an item on the fashion radar by knowing how to wear it (and by being Kate Moss).Kudos to you, Kate the Great!
That said, here are some of our favorite slip dress moments.
